Early American Material Texts

New Website

Welcome to Early American Material Texts, a website for sharing nontraditional scholarship and writing about book studies and archival explorations related to Early American literature and culture, broadly defined.

There will be several components to the site as it develops in the coming months: (1) “E.A.D.” an experimental rewriting of a mid-19th century manuscript novel found among the papers of the literary figure Evert Augustus Duyckinck; (2) “Specimen Pages” a clearinghouse of digital content exploring the networks of early American book distribution; (3) “Picture Gallery” a collection of images of notable early American books suitable for using in the classroom.

Also on the site is the program for a conference on Early American Literature and Material Texts held at the Library Company of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania in May 2016.

Questions regarding the website, including author submissions, may be sent to:  earlyamericanmaterialtexts@gmail.com
